TDA shows interest in electric vehicle charging stations

With a sizeable budget for Swain County, the Tourism and Development Authority gets pitched a few ideas from the county. Among those heard at their meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 9 was adding two electric vehicle-charging stations in town and upgrades to the county pool.

School bus stop violation puts student at risk

On Tuesday, Sept. 1, a Swain County student was nearly struck by a vehicle after descending from a school bus and crossing the street. The yellow school bus was stopped on Slope Street, with its stop arm deployed, to allow for the student to cross for a drop off at the United Community Bank.
