From peak leaf season to homecoming dress-up day, signs of autumn abound in Swain County. Swain County High School senior Amaya Hicks was crowned this year’s Homecoming Queen during halftime at the football game on Friday by Swain’s 2021 Homecoming Queen, Chloe Lambert.

County approves $2.88 million budget amendment

Swain County Board of Commissioners allocated an additional $2.883 million in the county’s budget for this fiscal year. Commissions approved their third budget amendment during their regular meeting on Oct. 13. Allocations were made from several revenue sources including $2.
