Mrs. Donna Marie Carlton of Southmonth passed away on Oct 24, 2019 after a long battle with Sweets Disease.

Donna was born in Bryson City, N.C. on Oct 1, 1951, to James Andrew Freeman and Hill Davis Freeman, both deceased. The family moved to Archdale in 1967.

She was married to Richard Carlton who survives of the home.

Also surviving is her daughter Heather and granddaughter Lillian. She had a son, Terry, who is deceased. She is survived by 3 sisters and 2 brothers. Naomie DeHart of Warren, Oregon, Susie Walker of Archdale, and Maxine Skelton of Maddison,S.C.; brothers Dillard Freeman, of Loudon Tennessee and Clifford Freeman of Thomasville.She was preceded by 4 brothers: Willard, James, Donald and David.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

She attended Almond Elementary School and Swain County High School in Bryson City and Trinity High School in Randolph Country.

She was a Christian and was a very caring person. She was a very hardworking person who had her own business cleaning apartments and houses. At one time she ran her own consignment shop.She loved to sew, read, work in her yard and flower beds.

She donated her body to science, so no funeral is planned.
