1937-2022
Burl Cook, 84, of the lower Alarka community, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday April 23, 2022. A native of Swain County, he was the son of the late Claude and Lillie Mae Cook. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brother Jack Cook, sisters Ellen Hal and Ruby Medford, and daughter Wanda Cook.
He is survived by son Edward Cook (Suzy) of Sylva, sister Rachel Wilkie (Frank), grandchildren Leigha Parker of Sylva, Amanda Williams (Aaron) of Whittier, Josh Cook of Franklin, Kerry Cannon (Patrick) of Clyde, and seven great grandchildren.
He was a heavy equipment operator, car salesman, and small engine repair shop owner for over 20 years. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, and fishing.
No funeral services are planned. A brief memorial for immediate family will be observed.
