Virgie Irene York, 96, of the Alarka community went home to be with the Lord Friday, April 3, 2020. A native of Swain County, she was the daughter of the late Jim and Sarah Lindsay York.
She attended Alarka Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her son, Herbert York, and many brothers and sisters.
Virgie is survived by her son, Gary York of Bryson City; grandson, Michael York and wife Jennifer of Whittier; great-grandchildren, Madison and Daniel York; sisters, Rachel Smith of Bryson City, Zele Yarborough of Lexington; and many nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service was held on Sunday.
