Thomas “Brett” Conley, 64, of Hayesville passed away Thursday, December 15, 2022. A native of Swain County, he was the son of Carolyn Medford Hall of Murphy, NC and the late Thomas Crawford Conley. Brett was of the Baptist faith.

Frederick Scott Lambert cherished Dad, Pop, Pop-pop, 94, died Friday, December 9 at his home in Cherokee, NC. He retired from the Cherokee Boys Club after 26 years as the Garage Manager. He was the son of the late Jesse Brisco and Minnie Etta Stiles Lambert.

Keniethea Branton Martin, 102, passed away December 7, 2022. A native of Swain County she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Fannie Weeks Branton. She and her husband Robert, spent most of their lives in Taft, California. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband J.

Sister Virginia Gase (formerly Sister Mary Raymond)

Sister Virginia Gase (formerly Sister Mary Raymond) of the Sisters of St. Francis of Tiffin, Ohio, died at 6:50 am Sunday, December 4, 2022, at St. Francis Home, Tiffin. She was born July 29, 1931, to Virgil and Matilda (Hoepf) Gase in Berwick, Ohio.

Wanda Ballew, 78, of Bryson City went home to be with the Lord Saturday, December 3, 2022. A native of Swain County, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Ida Watson Kirkland and wife of the late Wayne Ballew.

James Ray Calhoun

James Ray Calhoun, 86, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 23rd. He was born to James Forster Calhoun and Ruby Caroline Hyde Calhoun on February 6, 1936. His parents and his brother, Keith Max Calhoun, preceded him in death.

Dorothy Lee “Smith” Cochran, 82, of the Alarka Community went home to be with her Lord and Savior Monday, November 28, 2022. A native of Swain County. She was the daughter of the late Wheeler and Ruby Thomas Smith and wife of the late Woodrow Cochran.
