Suspect you might have Covid-19? Getting tested just got easier. Walgreens Bryson City is now a location for free rapid diagnostic testing. In order to request an appointment, a person will have to visit the website walgreens.com. First, you find the local store.

Positive COVID-19 cases on the decline, vaccines still limited

Positive cases of COVID-19 have dropped drastically across the United States this month. In North Carolina, the daily percent positive is at 7.4% with 1,988 newly reported cases by noon Tuesday. Statewide, there have been 10,562 deaths attributed to the virus.

Return to Swain school campuses delayed one week

In a special session Friday, Jan. 22, the Swain County Board of Education unanimously agreed to continue with Plan C remote learning for the school system for the next week. Students will tentatively return to campus Monday, Feb. 1 barring COVID-19 conditions getting worse.
