Maroon Devils soccer loses to Highlands but wins against Cherokee and Tri-County

Larry Griffin lgriffin@thesmokymountaintimes.com   The Maroon Devils soccer team had a hard-fought game against the Highlands Highlanders on Wednesday, Oct. 18, though they ultimately lost 3-2 with the deciding point scored in the last 10 minutes of the game.

Maroon Devils beat Braves 45-7 amid power outage

Larry Griffin lgriffin@thesmokymountaintimes.com   A power outage plunged the stadium into darkness during the football game Friday, Oct. 20. It ended the game with the Maroon Devils continuing their unbroken winning streak, defeating the Cherokee Braves 45-7.

Maroon Devils win first at SMC championships

Larry Griffin lgriffin@thesmokymountaintimes.com   The Swain County cross country team had a strong showing at the Smoky Mountain Conference high school championship taking place at Kituwah on Saturday, Oct. 14, with both the boys’ and girls’ teams winning first place.

Lady Devils volleyball defeats Andrews 3-0, heads to playoffs

Maroon Devils bring home another win

The Maroon Devils football team soldiered on through another win with a 21-13 defeat of the Hayesville Yellow Jackets on Friday, Oct. 6. The game was fought under cover of rain and saw the teams fiercely competing over the course of a game where the score remained close throughout.
