Toby Burrell Maroon Devil Network   Hayesville – The Maroon Devils got back on track this past Friday with an impressive 49-28 win over a very good Hayesville squad.  Swain bolted out to a 28-14 halftime lead before building the lead to 49-28.

The Maroon Devils Men’s Soccer Team hosted the Queen’s Grant Stallions on Wednesday night in the opening round of the state playoffs. Queen’s Grant is in one of the top conferences in the state that includes all charter schools around the Charlotte area.

Maroon Devils back in the win against Gladiators

Bryson City – Friday Swain got back to their winning ways as they cruised to a 60-0 nonconference win over the Gladiator Sports Academy.  With the win the Devils clinched a 5-0 nonconference mark for the season.

The Maroon Devils Men’s Soccer Team hosted the Hayesville Yellow Jackets on Monday at 3:30 p.m. Hayesville was sitting at the top of the conference with Swain in second place. Thirteen minutes into the game, Hayesville would get on the board first with a goal.

Cross Country competes in SMC Champs

Swain High’s cross country teams competed in the Smoky Mountain Conference Championships, which were held in Cherokee last Wednesday. The girls finished in second place overall, just missing Hayesville by 13 points.

Black Knights down Devils in key SMC showdown

Robbinsville – On Monday, the Maroon Devils traveled to Robbinsville for another Smoky Mountain Conference showdown in a rescheduled game due to rain Friday. The Black Knights rode a strong ground game to an easy 43-6 win over the Devils.

School board to adopt policy directed at unruly sports fans

Among actions during the October Swain County Schools Board of Education meeting was the first reading of several revised policies. While the bulk of adjustments are simply clerical, Superintendent Mark Sale said he plans to bring an additional policy to address behavior at sporting events.

Maroon Devil Network   Bryson City – Friday’s Swain Murphy showdown will go down as another storied chapter in their long and storied history.  Playing before a packed house at Swain County Memorial, the two teams played what will long be remembered as a classic.

Bryson City – Swain will host Murphy this week, it will be the biggest game of the season, so far, for both teams.  But then again, that is nothing new, it’s something the old rivals have been doing since at least 1947.
The Devils are currently one game back from 1st place in the conference.

Devils take 3-0 win over Trailblazers

The Maroon Devils Men’s Soccer Team hosted the Asheville Trailblazers on Monday night for non-conference action.  Just eight minutes into the game, Senior Aiden Pond would send a long ball to Freshman Landon Matz who would settle the ball and chip it over the goalkeepers head.
