Swain boys cross country is winning team at Kituwah

Swain County boys cross country did not boast the first place runner in last Wednesday’s home meet, but the Maroon Devils placed the next four individuals to claim a third-straight team victory and second at Kituwah Mound. Hayesville’s Ryelan Snowden finished first overall with a time of 17:24.90.

Lady Devils volleyball now 2-2 on season

After starting the season with two straight-sets victories over Cherokee and Andrews, Swain County volleyball dropped consecutive matches against Rosman and Murphy to bring its record to 2-2 four games into the abbreviated 2020 season.

Girls cross country

The Swain County girls cross country team continued its hot start to the chilly, late-fall season with another dominating performance ahead of the Thanksgiving break. The Lady Devils placed the race’s the top three runners, with Gracie Monteith winning the vent with a time of 22:16.

Lady Devils start strong as volleyball season gets going

Swain County volleyball sprinted out to a fast start to the delayed 2020 season, sweeping both Cherokee and Andrew at home last week, but Kayla McMahan’s group will face back-to-back opponents on the road this week before the Thanksgiving holiday in Rosman on Tuesday and Murphy on Wednesday.

Lady Devils cross country lead first home meet

Despite not boasting the race’s individual winner, the Swain girls team proved that cross country is, indeed, a team sport, placing the second, third, fourth, and fifth runners to win the opening meet at Kituwah Mound.

Alarka murder suspects extradited back to Swain

The two murder suspects in the Aug. 14 death of Lenore Dawn Morris have been transported back to Swain County. Morris, 70, died at her home located on Deep Gap Road on Aug. 14.
