Swain sports legacy Cline family

When Zachary Cline was three years old, the minimum age requirement for youth soccer at Camp Living Water was five. Thus started a trend that would continue throughout his childhood: if there wasn’t a team available for him to play on, his father would make it happen.

Cross country boys will put in practice time over holidays

When last Wednesday’s meet hosted by Tri-County Early College was moved up to Tuesday due to impending weather, a conflict arose for Swain sophomore standout Austin SanSouci. “Austin was taking his finals,” explained head coach Keith Payne. “At the end of the day, he’s a Student-Athlete.

Swain volleyball and girls basketball became the school’s first sports of the year to be temporarily suspended due to COVID-19. Per an email sent out on Thursday, Dec.

Cross country girls on a crosswind

Swain County girls cross country snagged another team win at Cherokee on Wednesday, Dec. 9, with Gracie Monteith adding to her impressive sophomore season by finishing first overall with a time of 21:26.22. Junior Emily Ulaner was third overall with a time of 23:49.91.

Swain volleyball back in the winning zone

After picking up a win on Tuesday night, Swain County volleyball is on a two-game winning streak to bounce back from a five-match skid that spanned Nov. 24-Dec. 8. Swain topped Cherokee on Thursday and Andrews on Tuesday to push the Lady Devils’ overall record to 4-5 on the season.

Lady Devils volleyball ready to face Cherokee, Andrews

Although Swain County volleyball dropped its fifth consecutive game on Tuesday night, a heartbreakingly-close defeat at the hands of Hayesville, there is little time for wallowing as the team prepares for rematches with the two schools it began the season by defeating: Cherokee and Andrews.
