Maroon Devils football season starts Friday

The long wait is over. The Maroon Devils will travel to Cherokee to face the Cherokee Braves in the first game of the delayed season Friday, Feb. 26. Kick-off is at 7 p.m. With restrictions on the number of people who can attend, Swain County Schools has upped its game for live broadcasts of games.

Maroon Devils basketball hangs tough but drops finale

Swain boys varsity basketball closed out the abbreviated 2021 regular season by hosting undefeated Hayesville on Thursday night, falling 71-62 to finish the season with a 9-5 record.

Swain girls edge Hayesville on senior night

Swain girls’ varsity basketball avenged a loss to Hayesville back on Jan. 26 by topping the Lady Yellow Jackets 53-51 on Thursday night to finish the season 5-9.

Maroon Devils soccer grabs two knockout victories

The Swain varsity boys soccer team traveled to Cherokee to take on the Cherokee Braves on Saturday in a rescheduled game. The Maroon Devils would have eight players scoring goals in the game. The Devils kept up the pace for a 9-0 win.

The Maroon Devils boys varsity soccer team traveled to Blue Ridge on Wednesday night for a conference match-up. The field had three inches of snow sitting on it on Monday, which made for a very muddy game on Wednesday.
