Lady Devils down Tigers

Rosman – Swain traveled to Rosman on Friday, April 23 for a matchup with the Tigers. After falling behind 1-0 over the game’s first 3 innings the Lady Devils responded over the next 4 innings to take an eventual 7-1 win. Swain would score 3 runs in the top of the 4th inning.

Maroon Devils finish 3rd at SMC Championships

Old Union Country Club – The Swain High golf team finished third this week in the Smoky Mountain Conference Championship Tournament. Murphy took top honors with a score of 370, with Highlands just off that pace with a 385. Maroon Devil Joseph Eagleman finished 3rd overall over the two day event.

A battle of defense in win over Blue Ridge

The Lady Devils Soccer Team traveled to Cashiers on Thursday evening to take on the Blue Ridge Early College. The game was a battle of the defenses as it was a struggle for either team to get on the scoreboard.

Kevin Hensley The Graham Star   Bryson City – Errors proved costly for Swain County on Friday, as Robbinsville turned a scoreless game into a 5-0 lead in the top of the third and eventually picked up a 6-4 win over the Lady Devils.

Swain Maroon Devils baseball season winds up

Swain County baseball played four games of its 2020 schedule before the season was called off due to the pandemic. The Devils finished 1-3, but all three losses were close (a combined six-score deficit).

Toby Burrell Maroon Devils Network   Bryson City – Swain scored 3 runs on Tuesday, but it would  prove to be enough as senior ace Stacey Griggs pitched a gem. Griggs scattered 2 hits and struck out 16 while walking 2 on her way to earning her 3rd win of the season.
