Bryson City’s own Evy Leibfarth, 17, made her Olympic debut on Team USA in the women’s kayak heats on Sunday, July 25. After a tough first run to get the jitters out, she had a successful second run to qualify herself for the semifinal of the WK-1.

Swain athletes compete in Body Armor State soccer games

High School Soccer players from across the state competed in the Body Armor State games in June to determine which region was the best in the state. Swain was represented by Zachary Cline and Landon Matz on the boys side and Isabelle Green, Anna Gray and Karena Cline on the girls side.

Greensboro – Last Friday, the Lady Devil track team secured their 2nd State 1A Championship.  Swain easily outdistanced Pamlico County to take home the top honors in the state.
