Hannah Styles hstyles@thesmokymountaintimes.com   Swain County Wrestling’s 2021-22 season kicked off this past Saturday at home competing against 12 teams from all over the west. “We finished 4th overall and we had 7 placers on the day.
Indoor track competed in their first meet this season at Murphy last Wednesday and both boys and girls won first place against four teams.

Hannah Styles hstyles@thesmokymountaintimes.com   Swain began indoor track last week, with their first meet, the Bulldog Polar Bear in Murphy on Wednesday. Both Swain boys and girls teams won first place with 84 points out of four teams.

Hannah Styles hstyles@thesmokymountaintimes.com   The Swain County Maroon Devils took on the Hayesville Yellow Jackets at home Friday in the first round of playoffs. The Devils came out confident and started the scoring shortly into the first quarter.
Swain County’s Maroon Devils soccer team were named the Smoky Mountain Conference Champions. The team made it to the third round in the playoff games.

Hannah Styles hstyles@thesmokymountaintimes.com   On Monday night, Swain took on the Queens Grant Stallions for the first playoff game of the season. The game, held at Swain, started off as a nail-biter and stayed every bit as exciting all the way to the last few seconds of the game.
