Maroon Devils compete in Polk County Reindeer Games

Hannah Styles hstyles@thesmokymountaintimes.com   Last Wednesday, the Devils track team traveled to Columbus, NC to Polk County High School for the Polk County Reindeer Games. Swain was one of 16 teams to compete at the event. For the boys 55-meter dash, Landon Matz placed 6th with 7.

Swain wrestling takes on the Great Smoky Mountain Grapple

Hannah Styles hstyles@thesmokymountaintimes.com   Over the weekend, the Maroon Devils wrestling team traveled to Asheville for the Great Smoky Mountain Grapple at Harrah’s Cherokee Center. Out of 29 teams, Swain finished 9th and Head Coach Adam Jaimez said he is very proud of the team.

Devils spear the Bobcats, taken down by the Panthers

Hannah Styles hstyles@thesmokymountaintimes.com   Swain girls’ varsity basketball took home a win against the Blue Ridge Bobcats last Tuesday in Cashiers. The Lady Devils finished the game with an impressive 72-41 win.

Hannah Styles hstyles@thesmokymountaintimes.com   At last week’s season opener for basketball, Swain took on the Smoky Mountain Mustangs. Varsity boys ran away with the game by the end of the four quarters with a finishing score of 92-66 starting things off on the right lead for Swain.
