Alice Kirkland King, 72, of Bryson City went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, January 24, 2023.  A native of Swain County, she was the daughter of the late Bob Utey Kirkland and Hazel Marie Kirkland.

Glenn Bumgarner Jr.

Glenn Bumgarner Jr., 76, of the Qualla Community died on Friday morning, January 27th, 2023 at Harris Regional Hospital. He was the son of the late Glenn Bumgarner Sr. and Lucille Reagan Battle. He was a lifelong resident of Jackson County and a member of the Shoal Creek Baptist Church.

Bryson City—Gary Ralph Jordan, 81, of Bryson City went home to be with the Lord Monday, December 12, 2022, after an 8-year journey with Dementia. He was a native of West Greenwich, Rhode Island.

Bryson City—Joe Lawson Campbell (Pop), 89, of Bryson City went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 21, 2023. A native of Graham County and current resident of Swain County, he was the son of the late John and Nancy Farley Campbell.

Johnny H. Nations, Sr

02-27-1943 – 01-13-2023   Jonesboro, S.C.—Johnny H. Nations, Sr. “Hubert” passed away at his home in Jonesboro, South Carolina at the age of 79. He was the son of Willard and Hester Nations; and spent his youth in what is now known as the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Ronald Voin Smith

Bryson City— Ronald Voin Smith, 81, passed away on Wednesday, January 18,2023. A native of Cocke County, Tennessee, he was a son of the late Arlie V. and Cressie Fox Smith. Ronald proudly served in the Army reserves.

Bryson City—Chester Edward Watkins, 77, of Bryson City went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at a Haywood County Hospital after a brief illness. He was born on December 24, 1945 to the late David Watkins and Evelyn Carver Watkins.

Ruby Virginia (Ward) Morgan

Bryson City—Ruby Virginia (Ward) Morgan of Bryson City, (b. February 21, 1921 passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, January 17. She was the widow of Basil Morgan who passed in 1982. Ruby was born in Jackson County in 1921, the second of 13 children.

Mary Lynn Edwards Ulrey

ULREY, MARY LYNN EDWARDS, 71, of Tampa and Bryson City, passed away at home into the arms of her Lord and Savior on January 10, 2023. Mary Lynn was born in Tampa, Florida on July 31, 1951 to W. F. & Louise Edwards and was raised in Dade City, Florida.

Margaret Kimsey Greene

Margaret Kimsey Greene, age 79, passed away unexpectedly on January 14, 2023 after a brief admission at the Swain County Hospital. Margaret was preceded in death by her sons Sean and Frederick.  She is survived by her daughter Lois Greene, brother Calvin Kimsey, and sister Alice Lance.
