Hattie Ruth Griggs went to be with our Lord and Savior at 9:20 pm on January 10, 2023 at the age of 88.

Gaytha Lynn Thompson

Gaytha Lynn Thompson, 75, of the Alarka community, went home to be with the Lord January 13, 2023. A Louisiana native, daughter of Luther and Mildred Carver. She was an active member of Mt. Vernon Freewill Baptist Church and loved her ladies group.

David Harold Martin

David Harold Martin, 90, of Whittier, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, January 11, 2023. A native of Jackson County, he was the son of the late Troy Emerson and Bessie Bradley Martin. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Roy and O.H.

Tommy McMillan

Tommy McMillan, 68, of Bryson City passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2023. A native of Swain County, he was the son of the late Clifford and Mary Brady McMillan. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Alfred and Jerome Brady, and Howard, Larry, Earl, and Wayne McMillan.

Sandra Kay (Davis) Crisp

After a prolonged period of declining health, Sandra (Sandy) Kay (Davis) of the Ela Community made the transition to her heavenly home on January 5, 2023. Sandra was a native of Raleigh, North Carolina, born February 10, 1944, to Harry Lee and Mattie Lee Davis of Raleigh.

Samuel E. Brandt

Samuel E. Brandt, 79, of West Middlesex, formerly of Bryson City, NC, passed away Wednesday morning, December 28, 2022, in Briarfield Place, Boardman, OH, surrounded by his family. Samuel was born February 11, 1943, in Sharon, a son of Harry M. and Virginia I. (McCullough) Brandt.

Rick Edward Messer

Rick Edward Messer, 59, of Whittier went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, January 3, 2023. A native of Jackson County, he was the son of Edward Messer of Whittier, NC and the late Margaret Messer. In addition to his mother, he was also preceded in death by his niece, Heather Abernathy.

Patricia Ann Conner Martin of Fairview, NC passed away January 4, 2023.   Mrs. Martin was born March 10, 1941 in Sevier, TN.  She was a National Honor Society graduate of Swain County High School.
