Swain’s Matz makes history with 100th goal

In Monday night’s away game against Highlands, Swain County senior Landon Matz made history as the first Swain boys soccer player to reach 100 goals in his high school career.

Devils fail to hold back Bulldogs’ bite

Jessica Webb editor@thesmokymountaintimes.com   The Devils were on the road Friday, Oct. 21 to take on the Murphy Bulldogs, ranked 3rd in the NCHSAA 1A teams. It was a night that kept fans on both sides on edge as the Devils gave the Bulldogs a fight. In the end, Murphy took the 20-14 win.

Lady Devils are cross country champs!

On Saturday six teams competed in the 2022 Smoky Mountain Conference Cross Country Championships at Kituwah Mound. The Lady Devils won 1st place as a team with 24 points, with an average time of 20:50. Hayesville placed 2nd, Cherokee 3rd, and Tri-County Early College 4th.
