Swain high baseball wins at Cherokee

Hannah Styles hstyles@thesmokymountaintimes.com   On Friday, the Maroon Devils baseball team traveled to our close neighbor Cherokee after a win against Cherokee at Swain last Tuesday. Swain got a leg up in the first two innings with one score in each and holding Cherokee to no score.

Jenkins and Eagleman to compete in golf regionals

Three members of the Swain High Maroon Devils golf team competed in the Smoky Mountain Conference Golf Tournament. The first round commenced at Sky Valley, Georgia, on Thursday, April 21. Leading the tournament was senior Will Jenkins shooting a career best 82 (+10).

Lady Devils softball fall to Cherokee

Hannah Styles hstyles@thesmokymountaintimes.com   On Tuesday evening, the Swain High School softball team played a home game against the Cherokee Lady Braves, which resulted in a 18-5 loss for the Devils.

Maroon Devils baseball crush the Braves

Hannah Styles hstyles@thesmokymountaintimes.com   It was a good finish for the Devils baseball team at Tuesday night’s home game against the Cherokee Braves. Swain won the game 12-2. In the first inning, the Devils scored seven runs to Braves one, which gave Swain a big jump to start off.

Lady Devils softball get first win

Hannah Styles hstyles@thesmokymountaintimes.com   The Lady Devils softball team got their first win of the season this past Thursday against Hayesville, with a 6-4 win. Swain started off the scoring early with three runs in the first inning and two in the second, holding the Jackets to no score.

Devils T&F competes at J. Alan Peoples Invitational

Hannah Styles hstyles@thesmokymountaintimes.com   On Saturday, the Swain track team traveled to Columbus, N.C. to compete in the J. Alan Peoples Invitational 2022 at Polk County High School. Swain was one of 16 teams to compete over the weekend.

The Lady Devils swat the Jackets 8-0

Last week, on March 28 the Lady Devils soccer team played another shutout game ending with an 8-0 win, this time against the Hayesville Yellow Jackets in a SMC match up. Eleven minutes into the game, Mya Burrows-Kurr passed to Karena Cline for her first goal of the game.

Maroon Devils baseball win all three games last week
