William H. Lewman

      2-11-54     /      8-4-21   William H. Lewman, 67, of Bryson City, died August 4, 2021, after a two week illness. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Sandi, 6 children and multiple grand and great grandchildren. He was loved, and will be missed, by all who knew him.

Margaret (Peggy) Arlene Wright Simmons

Margaret (Peggy) Arlene Wright Simmons, 84, of Whitter, NC, passed away on Friday, July 30, 2021, in her home. Peggy was born on February 6, 1937, in Tulsa, OK to the late Samuel Arthur (Art) and Mary Ethel (Curtis) Wright. She was a 1955 graduate of Central High School in Tulsa, OK.

Linda McMahan-DeHart

Linda McMahan-DeHart, 68, of Bryson City, passed away Tuesday, August 3, 2021. A native of Swain County she was the daughter of the late Robert and Tempie McMahan. She was also preceded in death by 9 brothers and sisters.

Carroll Estes

Carroll Estes, 72, of Whittier went home to be with the Lord Monday, July 26, 2021. A native of Swain County, he was the son of the late Ben and Annie Sue Estes. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Virginia Karlen.

Janis Wanda Moon

Janis Wanda Moon, age 67, of Toccoa, passed away Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Born September 22, 1953 in Bryson City, NC, she was the daughter of the late Mell Merritt and Roberta Maney Moon. She was of the Christian Faith and was a homemaker.

Jerry Doyle Howell

U. S. Air Force Master Sergeant Jerry Doyle Howell, retired, went home to Heaven on Monday, July 26, 2021, after a battle with cancer. Jerry was born in Kannapolis, NC in 1948 to Claud Allen Howell and Jamie Sechler Howell. He was a graduate of A. L. Brown High School.

Roberta Denise Owle

Roberta Denise Owle, 52, of the Yellow Hill Community went home to be with the Lord and her dad, Joseph Owle on Monday, July 26, 2021. A native of Cherokee she was the daughter of Martha Sherrill of Cherokee and the late Joseph Owle.

Louise Cayll Arnsdorff

Louise Cayll Arnsdorff, 84. Bryson City. Her faith was made sight in the early morning hours of Sunday, July 18. She was born in Winter Park, Florida and loved her roots there, but oh how she loved her mountains. Love was a key part of her life.

Harvey “Jake” Hyatt

Harvey “Jake” Hyatt, 83, of Bryson City, left his earthly home on July 22, 2021.  Jake was best known for his gift of gardening, for his dedication to the Swain County Democratic Party, and for his love of the Smoky Mountains he called home for most of his 83 years.

John “Mark” Payne

John “Mark” Payne, beloved son, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin, uncle and friend, died Monday, July 19, 2021 at Mission Hospital in Asheville, North Carolina. He was just three weeks shy of his 41st birthday.
