Delia Ann Woodard Watkins

Delia Ann Woodard Watkins, 94, of the Lands Creek community, went to be with Jesus on Good Friday, April 10, 2020. A native of Swain County, she was the daughter of the late William and Miley Sutton Woodard.

David Eugene Maynard

David Eugene Maynard, 71, of Bryson City, passed away March 25, 2020, at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem, NC. He was the son of the late Bud Jarrett and Maudie Smith Maynard.

Calvin Coleman Shepherd

Calvin Coleman Shepherd, 58, of Bryson City passed away on March 27, 2020.  He was born January 8, 1962, in Mecklenburg County, NC to the late J.D. Shepherd and Betty Shepherd who survives him.  Calvin was a machinist and a carpenter by trade.

Marcy Lean Campbell

Marcy Lean Campbell, 83, of Bryson City, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday March 31, 2020. A native of Swain County she was the daughter of the late William and Ora Mae Morgan Day.

Doc Cochran

Dockie Walter Cochran, known as Doc by his family and friends, was born in Swain County on February 4, 1937. He was one of ten children of Harley and Fannie Burr Cochran.

James Robert Patterson, 74, of Boynton Beach, Fl went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 31st, 2020. Jim’s roots in Western NC go back several generations and he enjoyed visiting as often as he could. His grandfather, Samuel R.

Virgie Irene York, 96, of the Alarka community went home to be with the Lord Friday, April 3, 2020. A native of Swain County, she was the daughter of the late Jim and Sarah Lindsay York. She attended Alarka Church of God.

Bobby V. King Sr.

Bobby V. King Sr., age 81, went home to be with Jesus, March 28, 2020. He attended Ambassador Baptist Church and worked 40 years at BSI. Survived by his wife, Hilda; sons, Bobby King Jr.

James Douglas Shook

James Douglas Shook, 74, of Whittier, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday March 24, 2020. James was the son of the late William Chastain and Virgie Brooks Shook and was a member of Whittier United Methodist Church.
