Samuel Claude McMahan

Roseboro—Samuel Claude McMahan, 86, of 2204 Straw Pond School Road, passed away Thursday, June, 4, 2020 at Rex Hospital. A graveside service was held at 11 AM, Monday, June 8th at Mt. Elam Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Brandon Glunt officiating.  The family received friends at the home.

Tyler Taylor

On June 1, 2020, Ty went to be with the Lord. In past tense, he served his country as a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force. His passions were enjoying good food and travel, celebrations with family and friends, art, music, gardening and landscaping.

Nina Lee Cooper Metcalf, 64, of 2260 New Hope Road, Hertford, NC, passed away Friday, May 29, 2020 in her home. Born in Swain County on September 12, 1955, she was the daughter of Frankie Nations Sheehan of Whittier and the late Harry Dennis Cooper.

Wade James Cook

Wade James Cook born May 6, 1938, went home to be with the Lord Thursday May 28, 2020. A native of Swain County he was the son of the late Roy and Mamie Cook. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his sibling’s, Lee Roy, Floyd, Joel, Tommy, Blanche Estep, and Vera Cogdill.

Cheryl Lynn Grant Maxey

Local Author Cheryl Lynn Grant Maxey, 62, of Bryson City went home to be with the Lord and her son on Friday May 29, 2020. A longtime resident of Bryson City she was the daughter of Kate Sawyer of Bryson City and the late Willard Grant.

Lavinia M. DeHart, 88, of Almond NC passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2020. A native of Graham County, she was the daughter of the late McKinley and Icie Greene.

Tina Johnson Bowers

Tina Johnson Bowers, 50 passed away on Friday May 29, 2020 at her home in Cherokee North Carolina, after a hard but short battle with cancer. Tina was known for her love of travel and could often be seen out and about with one of her beloved dogs: Simon, Tooky, Buster, Elijah, Ruthie.

Tyler Crowe

On Monday May 25, 2020 Tyler Crowe passed away.  He was born on May 28, 1987.  Tyler would have celebrated his 33rd birthday this week.  He was born in Cherokee, NC and grew up in Buncombe County.  He resided in Cherokee for the past several years.

Pharris Edwin (Dock) Cutshaw

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Pharris Edwin (Dock) Cutshaw, 68, of Bryson City.  He passed at his home on Saturday, May 16, 2020 following an extended illness. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, James and Mary Cutshaw, and brother, Ronnie.
