HARTSVILLE, SC – Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Lou Burnette Brown, 79, were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug.18, 2020 in Lakeview Baptist Church. Rev. Ken Hughes, Rev. Steve Winburn, and Rev. Dr. George Howle officiated with burial to follow in Palmetto Baptist Church Cemetery.

Leighton Everette Whitesides, 52, of the Deep Gap Alarka community, unexpectedly transitioned into eternity with his Savior, Jesus Christ, on August 11th. He was reunited with his father and hero, Leighton Whitesides Sr.

Ralph Edward Amburn

Ralph Edward Amburn, 98, of Bryson City, North Carolina and formally of Detroit, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on August 17, 2020 at his residence on Franklin Grove Church Road. Funeral services were held at Crisp Funeral Home on August 19, 2020 at 11:00 a.m.

Michael Duane Vendeville

Michael Duane Vendeville, 71, of Candler passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center in Asheville. Born August 25, 1948 in Lansing, MI, he was a son of the late Robert M. Vendeville and Mildred R. Campbell Vendeville. He owned and managed rental cabins for years.

Sharon Lang, 79, of the Kirkland Creek Community went home to be with the Lord Sunday, August 2, 2020. A native of St. Petersburg, FL and 25 year resident of Bryson City, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Mary Metz. She loved the Lord, her family and friends.

Ruth Eileen Payne Ashe

Ruth Eileen Payne Ashe, 90, of Bryson City, went home to be with the Lord Friday July 31, 2020. A native of Swain County, she was the daughter of the late Estes J. Payne and Nina Reece Payne, and wife of the late Fred Vincent Ashe.

William Edward Warren (Bo)

William Edward Warren (Bo), 78, of the Kirklands Creek Community went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, July 29, 2020. A native of Swain County, he was the son of the late Hazel Warren Teague. He was a US Navy Veteran and also a commercial truck driver for nearly 40 years.

Dorothy Owen

Dorothy Owen, 80, of Bryson City, went to be with the Lord on July 28, 2020. She was born in Swain County on June 24, 1940 to the late Woodrow and Ruth Mason. She was also preceded in death by her husband Paul Owen. Dorothy was a member of Whittier First United Methodist Church.

Carol Sequoyah Standingdeer

Carol Sequoyah Standingdeer, 71, of the Big Cove Community went home to be with the Lord Monday July 27, 2020 at her residence on Big Cove. A native of Cherokee she was the daughter of the late Wilbur Sequoyah and Lula Wolfe Sequoyah.
